KEOTA-Willus C. Greiner, age 96, of Hiawatha, formerly of Keota, died Thursday, December 15, 2005, at the Hiawatha Care Center following a brief illness. Willus was born October 13, 1909, in rural Ollie, Iowa, to Harry and Rose (Smith) Reed. She attended school in Ollie and graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in Harper in 1928. On November 27, 1928, she married Richard Greiner in Harper. The couple farmed northeast of Keota until Richard's death in 1958. Willus then moved to Washington until 1965, when she moved to Marion. She became a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center in 1998. Willus was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion and St. Theresa Circle and enjoyed cooking, baking, needlework and her family. Survivors include one daughter: Joan Hegewald and husband Willard of Amana; three sons: Terry and wife Maria of San Antonio, Texas, Kenneth and wife Mary Rita of Toddville and Dudley and wife Judy of Marion; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren and one brother: Francis Reed of Wellman. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard on May 13, 1958, son, Rodney on October 10, 1956, two brothers, Bernard and Hubert and two sisters, Mamie Wallace and Alice Bell. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2005, at the Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with Revs. Marty Goetz and Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Keota. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2005, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be a combined prayer service and rosary at 6:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.
