SIGOURNEY-William Dean "Bill" Kerber, age 83, of Sigourney, died Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney. Bill was born August 9, 1930, in Sigourney, to William Kerber, Sr.and Etta (Bushman) Kerber and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1949. On June 15, 1950 he married Mary Jane Kerkove at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney. Bill was then drafted into the Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He worked for W.C. Conner Construction several years, retiring in 1985 as a ground breaking foreman. Bill was the provider for his family and a loving, patient husband and father. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking and was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed gardening and refinishing antiques for himself and people in the community. Survivors include five children: Sheryl (Dennis) Clarahan, Debra (Francis) Clubb, Marcia (Martin) Konrad, Teresa (Ron) Hanchett and Chris Kerber (Terri Utterback-Black); 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and one sister: Bernice Wilkening. He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Jane in 2012; parents; two children: John Michael and Karen Sue and great granddaughter: Mallory Clarahan. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, with Revs. Charles Fladung and David Wilkening officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2012, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney A general memorial fund has been established.
