HARPER-William Joseph Heisdorffer, 100, died Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Keokuk County Hospital, Sigourney, following a brief illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Holy Trinity Parish-St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Harper, with Father Charles Fladung officiating. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Powell Funeral Home, Keota, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Survivors include his two daughters, Susann (Henry) Feuss of Cedar Rapids, and Barbara (Leland) Knowles of Lisbon; a son, Michael of Harper; two stepdaughters Dorothy Stahl of Franklin, Tennessee, and Bonnie Zeigler of Mexico, MO.; three stepsons, Kenneth Conklin of Washington D.C., Dr. Keith Conklin of Kirksville, MO., Ronald Conklin of Columbia, MO., and nephew Myron Hammes of Paradise Valley, AZ.; 7 grandchildren, 20 step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 20 step great-grandchildren, and 8 step great-great grandchildren . He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Marie, his second wife Viola, son William Dean in 2001, daughter-in-law Marge, a grandson Henry Feuss Jr. in 1988, twin sisters Mary Pohren and Rosa Heisdorffer, and five brothers Peter, Albert, Virgil, Walter and Donald. William Joseph Heisdorffer was born December 18, 1907, in rural Clear Creek Township, Keota, Iowa, the son of Michael and Anna (Spanier) Heisdorffer and received his education at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic School. He married Marie Cecilia Hammes on September 4, 1930 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clear Creek and they lived and farmed in Keokuk County. Marie died September 25, 1974. He married Viola Anna Hammes Conklin on June 14, 1975 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper, retired from farming and moved to Harper. Viola died May 9, 2007.
