William Ellsworth Taylor

November 9, 1930 — January 15, 2019

Millersburg- William Ellsworth Taylor was born November 9, 1930 in Iowa County, Iowa, the son of Marvin Ellsworth and Wilma Lucille (Fahrney) Taylor. He graduated from Millersburg High School in 1949. Bill served in the US Army, where he was stationed in Germany. He raised livestock for many years and was a school bus driver. Bill was a member of the Church of Christ in Deep River for many years and recently attended the Community Church near Deep River. He enjoyed volunteering with the Iowa County Historical Society in Marengo, speaking at various programs about the Oregon Trail and a few years ago, rode his horse across the state of Iowa to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Association. Bill died on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at his home in Millersburg at the age of 88 years.
He is survived by his brother Keith E. (Myra) Taylor of Williamsburg; two nieces Renee Moravec of Claremont, MN and Ronda (Dennis) Scheidt of Coralville; and a great niece Rachel Scheidt. He was preceded by his parents; an infant brother Melvin Taylor and a nephew-in-law Bruce Moravec.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Community Church, rural Deep River. Burial will be in the Community Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until service time at the church. A memorial fund has been established for the Iowa County Historical Society, Iowa County Genealogical Society or Unbridled Spirits (a race horse retirement ranch).
