Millersburg- William Mathew Blair was born on June 16, 1926, the son of Oscar Rude and Jessie Mae (Jordan) Blair. He attended Wellman High School. He marriedDorla Woods and they were later divorced. To this union they were blessed with 5 daughters: Ramona, Juanita, Rosa, Christina and Patricia. On September 22, 1965, he married Charlene Ruth Blakeman in Dubuque. He owned and operated Blairs truck repair for 20 years and recently worked for Engineered Building Designs in Washington, for 15 years. He enjoyed yard work, small engine repair and mechanics. William died on Sunday, May 27, 2012, at his home after a sudden illnes, at the age of 85 years. He is survived by his wife Charlene of Millersburg; children: Ramona (Orville) Loghry of Des Moines, Juanita (Mike) Young, Rosa Blair, Christina Blair and Patricia Blair all of Cedar Rapids, William Michael Blair of Iowa City, Melissa (John) McDowell of North English and Rebecca Chalupa of Millersburg; 4 stepchildren: Steven Johnson of Wisconsin, Craig Johnson of Virginia, Tim Johnson of North English and Lori Snyder of Waterloo; 31 grandchildren; 40 plus great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and a brother Merle James Blair of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Alverda Duffy; and 3 brothers: Kenneth, Pat and Frances. Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at the Powell Funeral Home, North English. Burial will be in the Piersol Cemetery, North English. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 4-7 PM at the Powell Funeral Home, North English. A general memorial fund has been established.
