William "Bill" Miller

William J. "Bill" Miller, 73, of Wayland, IA, died Friday, June 29, 2012. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Faith Christian Outreach Church, 1302 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant, IA, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, at the church, with Pastor Monte Knudsen officiating. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery, north of Wayland, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to the family and will be designated to missionaries. The Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant is assisting the family with the arrangements. Born May 20, 1939, in Milford, NE, William Joseph was the son of Milton Merle and Verdella Grace Eicher Miller. He was a 1957 graduate of Milford High School. On May 2, 1964, Bill married Donna Witmer in Leo, IN. Following high school graduation, Bill moved to Ft. Wayne, IN to perform 1-W Service, where he met his future wife, Donna, at church. He and Donna resided in Indiana until 1973, when he moved his family to the Wayland, IA area, where he farmed and was in construction. Bill was a member of Faith Christian Outreach Church and over the years worked to construct church facilities as the church grew and expanded. He could build anything and enjoyed woodworking, especially building grandfather clocks and cabinets. Bill's greatest love and interest were his grandchildren. He enjoyed farming and working with cattle, and was an avid deer hunter. Along with his wife, Donna, Bill is survived by four sons, William J. "BJ" (Jana) Miller Jr., Douglas (Jennifer) Miller, Matthew (Lisa) Miller, and John Miller, all of Wayland, IA; three daughters, Christina Miller of Cedar Rapids, IA, Elizabeth Miller and Patricia Miller, both of Wayland, IA; and two brothers, Ray Miller of Salida, CO and Donald (Joan) Miller of Wayland, IA. He is also survived by ten Miller grandchildren, Kaleb, Whitney, Michael, Walker, Kiana, Delaney, Kinzey, Chancey, Jaicey, and Payton. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Miller.
