William "Bill" Callison

William H. "Bill" Callison, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, formerly of New London, IA, died Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at Arbor Court. Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon on Thursday at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Independent Bible Church in Wayland with Pastor Bob Wolf officiating. Burial will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Henry County Cancer Fund. Born April 4, 1924, in Powerville, MO, Bill was the son of Guy and Buella Hatfield Callison. Mr. Callison served in the United States Navy. Bill married Lucille Bales, who preceded him in death. On September 7, 1979, he married Lucy Elizabeth Parker in Stockton, Iowa. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2001. Mr. Callison worked as a mobile crane operator for the Sivyer Steel Company of Bettendorf, IA. He was employed there for 31 years, retiring on March 3, 1987. Bill enjoyed going to craft shows, making rope, fishing and hunting. He loved to pick, shell and sell walnuts. He had a very devout love of animals. He was also a member of the Independent Bible Church of Wayland. He is survived by three daughters, Shirley (Stewart) Kinney of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Sally (Tom) Haines of Mt. Union, IA, and Suzann (Terry) Blomgren of Whittier, CA; three sons, Glenn (Kathy) Carson of Phoenix, AZ, Albert Parker II and David Parker both of Newton, IA; two sisters, Judy (Bob) Stickler of Wyoming, MI, and Juanita Wolf of Davenport, IA. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his wives.
