Wayne was born on June 12, 1934 at home, in Williamsburg, the son of William and Ida Wille Walters. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1951. Wayne owned his own dump truck and contracted with area businesses hauling rock and also working construction. Wayne married Shirley Stettler on November 30, 1956 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Williamsburg. Shortly after, Wayne joined the U.S. Army and entered on December 5, 1956. He repurposed the old skating rink floor in Williamsburg and made it into cutting boards. He gave them to those who enjoyed skating there. Shelves and jewelry boxes were among several things Wayne would craft. Wayne was a member of the Williamsburg Fire Department for 15 years.
