Wayne J. Fuller, 74, of Salem, Iowa passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at Henry County Health Center.Visitation will begin after 12 noon on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Deborah Stowers officiating. Burial will be in Salem East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts of love and friendship may be given to Salem Fire Department or H2O (Help to Others). On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com. Born July 10, 1943, in Salem, IA, Wayne Joseph was the son of Harold Roscoe and Cecelia Julia Feehan Fuller. He was educated at Oak Grove and Center Country Schools. On June 29, 1969, Wayne married Betty Byerly at First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. A life-long farmer, Wayne worked at PM Firestone in his early years. For 34 years he was employed by the Henry County Road Department, working on the road maintenance crew. He retired in December of 2008. Being very community minded, Wayne enjoyed visiting with family and friends and working on his farm. He was a 4-H member and served as a Jackson Township Trustee for 20 years. For 34 years he was a board member and president of Salem East Cemetery. He also served on the Henry County Cattlemen's Board for 14 years, where he and Betty were recognized in 2015 as Cattlepersons of the Year.Along with his loving wife, Betty, of 49 years, Wayne is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Jeff) McGohan of Mt. Pleasant, IA and Kathy (Randy) Hites of Salem, IA; six brothers, David Fuller of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Henry (Jerri) Fuller, Clyde (Sharrie Ryan) Fuller, Walter (Susan) Fuller, and Ronald (Jane) Fuller of Salem, IA; a sister, Opal (Keith) Koresko of Salem, IA; and a step-sister, Louise (Lowell) Stegall of Moberly, MO. He is also survived by two grandsons, Elijah and Ethan McGohan. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank Fuller.
