Wayne Everette Johnson was born May 23, 1924 near Wellman, Iowa the son of Thomas and Nin (Graf) Johnson. He attended rural Pleasant Mound School and graduated from Wellman High School in 1942. He served in the Army during WWII where he was a cook. Wayne has lived and farmed in the Wellman community all of his life. He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, the American Legion, and former member of the Lions Club. Wayne died suddenly on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 83 years. Wayne is survived by 2 nieces - Judy Hackman of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Janet Driscoll of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Roy Johnson.
A memorial fund has been established for the Wellman Ambulance.
