Wanda Faye Tollenaar

Wanda Faye Tollenaar was born August 15, 1940 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of James and Burdine (Stoffregen) Cooper. She attended high school in Grimes. On October 16, 1965 Wanda was united in marriage to Ronald Thomas Tollenaar in Hedrick. They made their home in the Sigourney community. Wanda worked as a butcher in Blackies Groceries, Kinds Jack and Jill, and at K&L Foods before retiring in 2005. She was a member of the Sigourney Christian Church. She enjoyed going to her grandchildren's activities and going to the casino. Wanda died on Friday, November 27, 2015 at her daughter's home in Sigourney at the age of 75 years.
Wanda is survived by her children: James William "Bill" Tollenaar of Springfield, MO, Rhonda Kae (Richard) Huffman of Sigourney, Thomas Jay Tollenaar of Ottumwa; 9 grandchildren: Adam Tollenaar, Brandi (Shane) Carter, Mark Tollenaar, James Lindemann, Brent Lindemann Jr., Morgan Tollenaar, Tisa Tollenaar, Austin Tollenaar, Holden Huffman; 2 step grandchildren: Richard Huffman, Amber (Jacob) Bray; 2 great grandchildren: Montana Carter, Ashton Fisher; 2 step great grandchildren: Logan Bray, Dexter Bray; a brother Roger Cooper of Zephyr Hills, Florida; brother-in-law: Rick Tollenaar of Sigourney; several aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother Larry Cooper.


Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney. Pastor Bill Hornback will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetey in Sigourney. Visitation will be held from 3-8 PM on Monday, November 30, 2015 at the Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney where the family will greet friends from 4-8 PM. A General Memorial fund has been established.
