Oxford- Walter William Henry Baack was born June 28, 1920 in rural Oxford, the son of Henry D. and Gesine (Brockshus) Baack. Walter served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942 to 1945. Walter was united in marriage to Margaret Mary Maeder in September 15, 1946 at Luzerne, Iowa. He farmed the family farm, that he was born and raised on. Walter was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. He enjoyed going to auctions at the sale barn and talking to his fellow farmers. Walter died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Country View Senior Living in North Liberty at the age of 91 years. He is survived by his daughter: RoxAnn and husband Robert Hiam of Castle Rock, CO; two grandchildren: Paul Hiam and Carissa Hiam; a sister: Leona Baack of Marengo and a sister-in-law: Helen Nidey. Walter is preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret in December 2010, an infant grandchild and a brother: Marvin Baack. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. Pastor Richard Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 6, 2012 from 4 to 7 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
