Virginia Roop, age 99 of Sigourney was born October 7, 1912, in Unionville, Putnam Co. Missouri, the daughter of Joe and Hettie (Adams) Conger. She graduated from Packwood High School in 1929 and attended AIB college in Des Moines. Virginia was united in marriage on October 1, 1932 to Loyal Roop. They farmed together for many years northwest of Ollie. Then in 1992 they moved into Ollie. Virginia loved her family and being involved in their lives. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and baking pies. Which she always shared with her family. Virginia was a former member of Grandmother's Club and the Eastern Star. Virginia passed away Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Manor House Care Center, in Sigourney. Virginia is survived by her children; Barbara (Warren) Peterson of Dubuque, Iowa; Martha (Keith) Fritchen of Ollie, Iowa; Jon (Jean) Roop of Ollie, Iowa; Julie (David) Bailey, of Ollie, Iowa; Elaine (Keith) Blair, of Ollie, Iowa. 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 8 great, great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; 3 sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband a grandson Jeffrey Bailey , 3 sisters and a brother. Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the Ollie Baptist Church, Ollie. Rev. Carla Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the Halferty Cemetery near Richland. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
