Virginia "Peggy" Abraham

Virginia "Peggy" E. Abraham, 102, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away Wednesday, October 08, 2014 at Park Place Elder Living. Per her request, her body has been cremated, and no services are planned. The Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel assisted with the arrangements. The daughter of Lloyd and Bessie (Scarborough) Wright, Virginia Elizabeth was born on June 17, 1912 in Mt. Pleasant, IA. She attended the University of Indiana and Purdue University. On May 18, 1934, she married S. Basil Fleming in Gary, IN. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1973. On October 2, 1975, she married Frank P. Abraham in Mt. Pleasant, IA. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1994. Peggy worked as a secretary of Burt Insurance Company in Valparaiso, IN. She retired from this position in 1975. She had also worked as a librarian and a chief clerk for a rationing board. Active in the community while living in Indiana, Peggy was a member of the League of Women's Voters and served as the membership chairperson. She also was a charter member of the Junior Women's Club, and she served as the corresponding secretary for the Indiana Insurance Secretaries. She helped to raise funds for special needs children. While living in Mt. Pleasant, she attended First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include many loving friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and a brother, Dale Wright.
