Virginia Marie Roth

Virginia Marie Roth was born January 8, 1923 in rural Parnell, Iowa, the daughter of Ervin "Roy" and Mary " Mamie" (Yoder) Rensberger. She attended Greene Center School. On August 10, 1947 she was united in marriage to Merton Roth at the West Union Mennonite Church. They lived in rural Wellman for many years where she was a homemaker. She also cooked at IMS and Pleasantview Home for several years, and she cleaned houses for over 20 years. She moved to Kalona in 1988. Virginia was a member of the West Union Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday School, served on Church Council, was active in WMSC, Sunshine Birthday Club, and volunteered at the Crowed Closet. She enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing, quilting and spending time with grandchildren. Virginia died on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona at the age of 92 years.
Virginia is survived by 3 daughters; Carol (Nelson) Miller of Riverside, Mary (Harold ) Stutzman of Kalona, Joann (Stan) Marner of Brighton; a son Leslie (Jeannette) Roth of West Des Moines; a daughter-in-law Nancy (Ron) Brenneman of Wellman; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Merton in 1988; a son Dale Roth in 1979; a grandson Jason Marner 2010; 2 sisters Dorothy Eash, Ruth Litwiller; and 4 brothers Lloyd Rensberger, Myron Rensberger, Leonard Rensberger and Jake Rensberger.

Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, September 5, 2015 at West Union Mennonite Church in rural Parnell. Pastor Corey Miller and Pastor Martha Yoder will officiate. Burial will be in the West Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, September 4, 2015 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for the West Union Mennonite Church and Washington County Hospice.
