Virginia "Ginny" Septer

Virginia E. "Ginny" Septer, 74, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Thursday, May 28, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Oakland Mills Cemetery where the inurnment will take place. The Rev. Jeff McPheron will officiate at the service. Memorials may be directed to the family in the memory of Virginia Septer. Born July 17, 1934, in Hillsboro, IA, Virginia Ellen was the daughter of Charles and Nellie Pearl (Riley) Conner, Sr. Her early education was received at the Hillsboro School and she later graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. She married Dale E. Septer. The couple later divorced. "Ginny" worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, and then was employed for many years at Champion Spark Plug. She also worked at Mackay Envelope and Lomont Molding. In later years she worked tending bar at the Moose Lodge, Westside Tap and Rumors. Spending time outdoors was a passion for Ginny. She loved to grow flowers, work in her yard and was an avid gardener. She was always ready for a fishing outing and had an interest in collecting Indian memorabilia. Ginny loved spending time with her puppy, Skeeter, and following her son and grandson's performances in the Amarillo band. Survivors include one son, Lenny (Ginny) Septer of Mt. Pleasant, IA; one daughter, Teal Septer of Tucson, AZ; one brother, Charles (Josephine) Conner of Mt. Pleasant, IA; one sister, Evelyn Ericson of Fairfield, IA; a half-brother, Vern (Carolyn) Dorothy of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and one half-sister, Mildred (Floyd) Ingalls of Birmingham, IA. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Kaley (Kevin) Kile, Lindsey Septer, Jase Septer and Jeremiah Nichting. Mrs. Septer was preceded in death by her parents, and by two sons, Marlin and Tommy Septer.
