KEOTA-Virginia Louise "Ginny" Henderson, age 85, of Keota, died Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Virginia was born July 17, 1932, near Libertyville, to John and Marie (Harms) Clarridge and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1950. On July 23, 1950, she married James A. Henderson at the Methodist Church in Fairfield. The couple made their home in Keota where Ginny worked in the laundry department at Maplewood Manor for 35 years. Ginny was a member of the United Church of Faith, where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for many years, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was active in Scouts and Brownies and was an avid gardener, who cultivated many memories with her grandchildren.
Survivors include six children: Doug (Joanie) Henderson of Witter, Arkansas, Cindy (Russ) Keeler of North Liberty, Judy (Steve) Weber of Sigourney, Joyce (Steven) Peiffer-Smith of Washington, Sally Henderson of North Liberty and John (Barb) Henderson of Keota; 15 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and brother: Don Clarridge of Lancaster, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Jim in 2006; grandson: Jason Weber; son-in-law: Bob Peiffer and brother: John Clarridge.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, with Pastor Vince Homan officiating. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018, at the funeral home.
