Virginia Elmore

Virginia Elmore, 76, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Thursday, May 19, 2011 in the emergency room at Henry County Health Center. Visitation will be held Friday, May 20, 2011 beginning after 1 p.m. at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel with Reverend Rod Lyon officiating. Burial will be at Forest Home Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. The daughter of Lloyd and Velma (Samuelson) Garmoe, Virginia Mae was born December 29, 1934 in Mt. Pleasant, IA. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant Community Schools in 1952. On December 27, 1952 she married Dale "Gene" E. Elmore in Salem, IA. They moved to Seward, NE in 1974 where they resided for 30 years before returning to the Mt. Pleasant area. For 34 years Virginia worked as a representative of Avon products. She was a volunteer at Henry County Health Center. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. During the winter months Virginia and her husband would travel to southern Texas. Along with her husband, Virginia is survived by one son, Steve (Brenda) Elmore of Mt. Pleasant; two daughters, Sheila (Bob) Newman of Mt. Pleasant and Teresa (Rod) Bechtolt of Florissant, MO; seven grandchildren, Bobbi, Julie, Brandy, Kevin, Tamara, Justin, and Joshua; three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Allison, and Mackenzie; and one brother, Don Garmoe of Mt. Pleasant. Preceding her in death are her parents and one brother, Harold Garmoe.
