Virginia Elizabeth Leinenweaver was born on July 7, 1913, near Greenville, Iowa, the daughter of George and Anna Barglof Middagh. She graduated from Greenville High School. Virginia worked as a nanny and at the Graham Store in Spencer which later moved to Sigourney. She also moved to Sigourney where she met Leo L. Leinenweaver. Virginia was united in marriage to Leo on February 1, 1934, in Sigourney, Iowa. They lived in the Sigourney area before moving to a farm southeast of Webster. They retired from farming in 1973. Virginia and Leo enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening. She liked to do crafts, quilting and puzzles. Virginia was the most wonderful grandmother and great grandmother. Leo preceded her in death. She became a resident of the extended care section of the Keokuk County Hospital in 2002, and became a resident of Manor House in Sigourney in April 2005. Virginia died there on Friday, November 26, 2010. She is survived by a son Keith Leinenweaver and his wife Marlene of rural South English, IA; three granddaughters: Melinda Miller ( Monte Ohrt) of Hills, IA, Monica Klipp (Greg) of Webster, IA and Diane McClaskey (Tim) of Springfield, MO; five great grandchildren: Sarah, Becky & Ashley Klipp and Rachael and Abbye McClaskey. Also surviving is a sister Myrtle Reason of Redmond, Oregon. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband in October 2000, brother Virgil Middagh, and sisters Dorothy Chapman, Pearl Beck, Grace Reason and Audrey Wastney. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, with the Rev. Vince Homan officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, November 29, from 4 PM to 7 PM. Burial will be in the South English Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for Alzheimer's Foundation of America and the Webster United Methodist Church. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries.
