SIGOURNEY-Virgil W. Geno, age 93, of Sigourney, died Wednesday, November 16, 2005, at the Sigourney Care Center following a brief illness. Virgil was born April 7, 1912, in Van Buren Township, Keokuk County, Iowa, to Fred and Sarah (McClenahan) Geno. He attended country school and graduated from Sigourney High School. On September 7, 1932, he married Cleda Morrow at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Virgil served in the U.S. Army under General George Patton during World War II. He farmed and managed the Napa auto parts store in Sigourney for 27 years. Virgil was a member of the Sigourney Christian Church and the American Legion Post #19. Survivors include his wife: Cleda of Sigourney. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2005, at the Sigourney Christian Church, with Rev. Jim Bringman officiating. Burial will be at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney with military rites by the Lacey Kerr V.F.W. Post # 2308 and the American Legion Post # 19. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2005, at the church. A memorial fund has been established for the Sigourney Christian Church. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
