Veronica Inez Demus was born in Houston, Texas on June 21, 1924, to Charlie and Esther Burton and her big sister Mary Lou. She lost her mother at the age of five and was then raised by her dear father and paternal grandmother. She had a very close and loving relationship with her father and his wisdom continued to guide and direct her throughout her life.
Before her mom passed, she taught Veronica to sew. She developed a love for the art and possessed a tremendous talent and creativity that paved the way for a very fulfilling and rewarding career in Adult Education, teaching clothing construction and millinery. She had a way of drawing the best out of her students, empowering them to be their most creative selves.
Veronica's life changed forever when she met William Roy Demus Jr. This man loves her more than any man ever loved any woman. Their union created four loving daughters-Dari Beatty, Debra West(Ken), Deidre Stewart(Randy), and Dana Demus. Her gifts to her children are immeasurable. Before they were even born she told Bill that she wanted to raise her daughters in the fear and admonition of the lord. Veronica had a deep faith and hunger for the lord. She always wanted to grow in her knowledge of him and follow his leadings.
Veronica will also be remembered by her ten fine grandchildren and five beautiful great grandchildren, who love her immensely, as well as her many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
Over the last years of her life, whenever one of her family told her they loved her, she would shake her head and declare "I love you more".
