Vernon Cecil Hudson was born January 7, 1931 in Wellman, Iowa, the son of Lawrence and Thelma (Perrin) Hudson. He married Lorna Elaine Martin in Sigourney. Htye lived in the Wellman, Riverside, North English and South English communities where Vernon worked as a hired man for several farmers. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, feeding the birds, going for walks, watching wrestling, and he loved horses. He adored his dog "Pepper". Vernon died on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 83 years. Vernon is survived by four children Rick Hudson of Brooklyn; Linda Lou Hudson of New Sharon; Raymond Hudson of Webster; Duane Hudson of South English; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a sister Maxine Stagner of Columbus City; and a brother Gerald Hudson of Missoula, Montana. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister Arlene Parson, and 3 brothers Gene, Thomas, and Ray. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. Burial will be in the Piersol Cemetery in rural North English. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday. A general memorial fund has been established.
