Vera "Rosalie" Edwards

Vera "Rosalie" Edwards, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, IA passed away Tuesday, September 01, 2015 at Arbor Court. A visitation will be held from 1-7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. that evening. A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 10th at Olson-Powell Chapel with Pastor Jim Hughes officiating. Inurnment will be at Forest Home Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Alzheimer's Association. Born November 8, 1927 in Mt. Pleasant, Rosalie was the daughter of Harvey X and Ruth Bernice (Hummell) Long. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1945. On November 22, 1945 she married Leroy Jr. Edwards. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2002. Rosalie was a devoted housewife and had worked several part-time jobs outside of the home. She loved to square dance and enjoyed bowling. Favorite hobbies included doing Circle-a-Word puzzles and baking. She especially enjoyed playing with her grandkids. She attended Oakland Mills Community Church and Lincoln Street Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Jack (Margaret) Edwards of Mt. Pleasant, Shari Riddle of Burlington, IA, Pam (Fred) Jewett, and David (Maureen) Edwards all of Mt. Pleasant; 8 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a brother, Louie Long of Cloud Croft, NM. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Leroy; a sister, Joy Gordy; and a son-in-law, James Riddle. Cemetery Details Forest Home Cemetery South Walnut Street Mt.
