Velma Fern Yoder

Velma Fern Yoder was born May 29, 1931 in rural Kalona, Iowa.  The daughter of Lloyd and Clarissa (Hochstedler) Yoder.  She died at her home in Kalona following a short illness on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at the age of 90 years.  In her youth she was baptized and became a member of the Old Order Amish Church, where she was a faithful member at the time of her death.

Velma enjoyed housekeeping, quilting, visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include her siblings, Willis and wife Wilma Yoder and Alta, all of Kalona; twelve nieces and nephews, and a number of great nieces and nephews.

Preceding Velma in death were her parents; brothers, Ernest Yoder and infant brother Glen Dale Yoder; sisters, Pauline Yoder, Susan Yoder, infant sister Anna Marie Yoder, and a sister Iva Yoder who died in early childhood; and sister-in-law Esther Yoder.

The family wishes to thank everyone for the acts of kindness shown to them during this time of loss.

A Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 am Sunday, May 22, 2022 at the Duane Bontrager residence 1089 Nutmeg Avenue, Kalona, Iowa.  Burial will be in the East Union Cemetery.  Visitation will be Saturday May 21, 2022 from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm at the Duane Bontrager residence.  Messages and tributes may be sent to the family at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
