RIVERSIDE - Vance Kay Davisson was born July 2, 1948 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Donald and Marjorie (Potsander) Davisson. He graduated from Highland High School in 1966. Vance served in the United States Air Force from 1967-1971. He worked as a supply manager at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City for 29 years, retiring in 1998. Vance was a licensed Amateur Radio Operator and Morse Code American Radio Relay. In his spare time he enjoyed motorcycle touring. Vance died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at his home in Riverside at the age of 70 years.
Vance is survived by a son James "Jim" Davisson of Sheridan, Arkansas; 3 grandchildren: James Davisson, Rebecca Williams and husband Anthony, Tyler Davisson; 2 great grandchildren: Hagen Williams, Braylee Davisson, and a brother Vaughn Davisson and wife Cheryll of Riverside. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona with Pastor Brent Hartwig officiating. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Tuesday a the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established for Washington Area Amateur Radio Club.
