KEOTA-Vada Ruth Hahn, 79, of Keota died of cancer Saturday, September 6, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. She was born April 15, 1929 to L.P. and Mabel Engel Guy at Brighton, Iowa. After high school and teacher training she taught in rural schools for seven years. On May 29, 1954 she married Donald J. Hahn at Keota, Iowa. After living briefly in Michigan while Donald completed his military service, they returned to Keota where they farmed for 54 years. She is survived by her husband and five children; Mildred of St. Clair, Missouri, Bernice and her husband Donald Patterson of Oskaloosa, Stephen and his wife Rhonda of Keota, Theresa and her husband Dennis Weiss of Bellevue and Joseph and his wife Jane of Ames. She is survived by seven grandchildren; Christopher Hahn, Kathryn and Elizabeth Patterson, Kristine and Cindy Jo Weiss and Kaylee and Ethan Hahn. She is also survived by brothers Lathol and Wendel Guy and sisters Wanda Mapel, Jo Ellen Schimmelpfennig, Nadine Taglauer and Barbara Stephens. She was preceeded in death by her parents, one brother, Cedric Guy, and two sisters, Mary Aleatha Kientz and Beverly Morgan. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church, Keota, with Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be at Powell Funeral Home in Keota on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm, where there will be an Altar and Rosary Society Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and a wake service at 5:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Keota Senior Citizens Center. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.
