Vada V. Byrum

PACKWOOD-Vada V. Byrum, age 99, of Packwood, died Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney.

Vada was born April 24, 1923, near Ollie, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Catherine (Keasling) Van Orsdall.  Vada’s mother Catherine died at a young age so she was raised by Frank and Annie Carter, (Howard’s sister). Vada was united in marriage to Owen Harrison Byrum on October 3, 1947 in Bloomfield, Iowa.  She was a lifelong resident of Packwood. She enjoyed being outside, working in her garden and spending time with family and friends.

            Vada is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters: Edna Hutton, Wanda Conger, Lucy in infancy and Fern in infancy and two brothers in infancy, Grant and Leslie.

             Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 22, 2022, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, with Frosty Van Voorst officiating.  Burial will be at Van Orsdall Cemetery near Ollie.  Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at the funeral home.
