Twila Lane, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. with Rev. Herb Shafer officiating. Interment will be at the Spencer Cemetery near Stockport, IA. Memorials have been established to Spencer Cemetery and Stockport United Methodist Church. Born July 28, 1924, near Hillsboro, Iowa, Twila was the daughter of Phin R. and Martha (Ranson) Davidson. Her family moved to the Stockport community in 1930. She graduated from Stockport High School in 1941. On June 11, 1941, she married Stan Lane in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on November 2, 1986. The couple spent their entire married life on a farm near Stockport where Twila was a homemaker, helped with the farming operation and worked outside the home. She worked at the Silas Mason Ordnance Plant until the end of WWII, then at the Johnson Real Estate Office in Stockport, and later for 25 years as a cashier for Hank Brooks Cash Store. After leaving the farm she had resided in Mt. Pleasant since 1989. Favorite hobbies included photography, sewing, working word puzzles and flowers. She especially enjoyed her Irises which won many red, white and blue ribbons at the Women's Club Iris Show. She dearly loved music, especially Big Band, Gospel, Country Western, and she enjoyed ballroom dancing. She liked to cook and was an avid baker. She was passionate about her grandchildren and spent many hours caring for and spending time with them. Twila was a lifetime member of the Stockport United Methodist Church and attended First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. She was a 50 year member of Royal Neighbors of America, an auxiliary member of Ladies of the Moose, and a member of TOPS Chapter #12 in Mt. Pleasant. Survivors include two sons, Steven (Vicki) Lane of Birmingham, IA and Gary (Rosemary) Lane of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a brother, Joe (Sarah) Davidson of Salt Lake City, UT; four grandchildren, Tyler (LaShay) Lane, Allison (Ben) Lane-Weber and Adam (Halee) Lane all of Mt. Pleasant, IA and Parker Lane of Tucson, AZ; six step-grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Stan; and a sister-in-law, Nola.
