Travis Joseph Filben, was born on August 4, 1989, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Ken and Traci (Filben) Shaffer. He was a 2007 graduate of Keota High School. He was employed at Systems Unlimited in Washington. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard. He has lived in Washington, Hannibal, MO and Keota. He enjoyed music, singing, working on cars and collecting wooden ships. Travis died on Sunday, June 7, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics of injuries sustained in an auto accident, at the age of 19 years. He is survived by his parents Ken & Traci Shaffer of Keystone; 2 brothers: Raymond Shaffer and Colby Shaffer both of Keystone; maternal grandparents John and Ruth Vest of Keota. Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Wellman. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm on Wednesday, at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. A general memorial fund has been established.
