Tiffin- Timothy Ray Parris was born October 2, 1951 in Ottumwa, Iowa the son of Rev. Robert and Vivian Maxine (Barnes) Parris. Tim graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1969, in 1969 he joined the United States Marine Corps. After returning he attended the University of Northern Iowa. Tim worked 40 years for the City of Iowa City in street maintenance, which he truly enjoyed. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin were he taught Sunday school. Tim enjoyed racing motocross, motorcycles, bicycling, reading, camping, watching sports, spending time with family and was an avid bird watcher. Tim passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Lantern Park Specialty Care in Coralville after a courageous battle with Lymphoma at the age of 64 years.
Tim is survived by 5 children: Adam Henderson of Cedar Rapids, Amanda (Bryan) Regennitter of Atalissa, Ameliea Parris of Columbus, Ohio, Abigail (Bob) Hora of Oxford and Austen (Alyssa) Parris of North Liberty, and, 9 grandchildren:, Dakota, Bailey, Kody, Dalton, Jaxson, Tyler, Casen, Brooklyn and Cecilia. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters: Barb Semler and Sue Schweiker, and a grandson Kenneth Regennitter.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:30 pm Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Wellman. Pastor Moody Colorado will officiate. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 4-7 pm at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for Care Initiatives Hospice.
