Thomas Smith

Thomas Vance Smith, 75, of Sunrise, Florida passed away on June 2, 2023 in Sunrise.
Visitation will be 11:00 to 12:00 on Thursday, June 15 at Powell Funeral Home, 116 W. Broad
St., North English, Iowa. Burial will follow at the North English Cemetery.

Thomas Vance Smith was born in North English, IA to Dean Smith and Blanche Thomas Smith
on October 24, 1947. He graduated from English Valleys (class of 1965) and then
graduated from Harvard University. He worked as an insurance representative in Chicago and
later, Florida. He was married for a time to Consuelo Chaustre. Tom’s interests included
reading, Russian culture, and history.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

Tom is survived by brother, Dean G. Smith of Iowa City, IA and sister Betsy (Dick) Leyerle of
Sedona, AZ.
