Williamsburg-Thomas "Leonard" Lower was born December 14, 1923 near Williamsburg, the son of George and Kathryn (Callan) Lower. He attended Parnell School. Leonard was united in marriage to Rita Mary Malloy on July 28, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. Together Leonard and Rita had twelve children. Rita died in 1988. Leonard later was united in marriage to Rozella Reinert on February 24, 1990 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parnell. Leonard was a life long farmer. He truly enjoyed raising his cattle and attending livestock sales. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and had served on the Board of Directors for the Parnell School. Leonard died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at the English Valley Care Center in North English at the age of 89 years. Leonard is survived by his wife Rose of Williamsburg; eight children: George (Mary) Lower of Chesterfield, MO, John (Deb) Lower of Williamsburg, Jeanne (William) Reynolds of Las Vegas, NV, Raymond (Jana) Lower of Williamsburg, Mary (Larry) Dermody of Parnell, Maureen (Matt) Trimpe of Williamsburg, Jim (Cindy) Lower of Parnell and Margie (Chuck) Harwood of Phoenix, AZ; a step son: Steve (Darlene) Reinert of Davenport; a step daughter: Pam Reinert of Saginaw, MI; 24 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rita, two sons: Francis and Patrick; two daughters: Shirley and Joann Marie; a brother: Joseph Lower; sister: Veda Hanson and a daughter-in-law: Diane Lower and son-in-law: Russ Mobley. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Fr. Joseph Roost will preside. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Parnell. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. There will be a Rosary recited at 4:00 pm Wednesday.
