Teresa M. Thornton Harvey

Teresa Thornton Harvey, 45, died unexpectedly Friday, December 26, 2008, at her home in Central City, IA. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008, beginning after 12 noon at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant with The Rev. Pat Youngquist officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Remembrances may be directed to the family for a memorial to be chosen at a later date. The daughter of Donald W. and Beatrice L. Smithhart Thornton, Teresa Marie was born on November 16, 1963, in Mt. Pleasant, IA. She was a 1983 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and earned a Certified Nursing Assistant's degree from Southeastern Community College. Teresa lived most of her life in Mt. Pleasant before moving to Central City in 2003. As a CNA, Teresa was employed at Great River Medical Center in Burlington, IA. She had worked on the production line at Metromail and for Dave's Super Valu in the catering department, as well as the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club. Teresa worked at the Indian Creek Country Club and Hy-Vee, both in Marion, IA. Spending time with her family and her loving dog, Harley, was a favorite pastime for Teresa. She enjoyed cooking, camping, homemaking, and riding motorcycles. She was a member of the Metro Harley Davidson Club in Cedar Rapids, IA. Teresa is survived by fianc, Scott Frank, of Central City, IA, and his children Bryant Frank and Amanda Frank, both of Mt. Pleasant, IA; one son, Dustin Howell, a student at Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, MO; her father, Donald Thornton of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and two sisters, Debra Blevins and her fianc Kerry Miller of New London, IA, and Dawn Longwell and her husband Mike of Ely, IA. She is also survived by eight nieces and nephews and one great-niece. Teresa was preceded in death by her grandparents, mother, and a sister, Terry Thornton.
