William "Ted" Bruggemeyer, 65, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a hard-fought brief illness. A visitation will be held from 12-8 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, 709 E, Mapleleaf Drive, where the family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 18th, at Calvary Baptist Church, 803 E. Mapleleaf Drive, with Pastor Mike Hess officiating. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Calvary Baptist Church, for families experiencing medical hardships, and to the University of Iowa Rossi Guest House in Iowa City, IA. Born July 16, 1949, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Ted was the son of Ralph and Donna (Woodard) Bruggemeyer. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant Community High School in 1968. On May 24, 1968, he married Edee Bonser in Biggsville, IL. For 28 years, Ted worked in maintenance and as an electrician at CECO. Since 2009, he owned and operated his own business, Bruggemeyer Electrical, as a Master Licensed Electrician. Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He had a strong passion for horses. As a couple, Ted and Edee enjoyed traveling together, especially to Arizona or Texas during the winter months. A man of strong faith who truly loved the Lord, he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was especially active with the men's Ironmen Group. Ted was a loving husband and father. He was also devoted to his grandchildren, and he loved participating with and watching their activities. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Edee, of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a daughter Michelle (Michael) Skubal; two grandchildren, Abigail and Alec Skubal, all of Mt. Pleasant; his mother and step-father, Donna and Al Kennedy of Mesa, AZ; three sisters, Sue (Jerry) Smith, Cindy (Keith) Dorothy, and Barb (Dean) Hamilton, all of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his father, Ralph; his grandparents; a sister, Becky Benz; and an infant sister, Radonna.
