Tamara Marie Schwendinger

Williamsburg-Tamara Marie Schwendinger was born May 9, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and is the daughter of Wayne and Rose (Parson) Blount.  She graduated from Amana High School and attended University of Northern Iowa, then completed her college degree in Graphic Arts at Kirkwood Community College.  Tamara was united in marriage to David Carl Schwendinger on November 24, 1979 in Marengo, Iowa.  Tammy worked a number of jobs throughout her career, last being a medical insurance coding specialist for Medi Rev.  She enjoyed quilting, sewing, antiquing, gardening with her antique garden décor, camping and especially spending time with her family and grandchildren.  Tammy has a strong faith in Jesus and was involved in several churches and ministries. Tammy died Sunday, July 9, 2023 at her home at the age of 64 years. 

She is survived by her husband, Dave; two daughters, Beth (Mark) Ohl of Grimes and Abby (Scott) Birkett of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Aidan and Arden; two brothers, Ron (Paula) Blount of East Amana and Dan Blount of High Amana and a number of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am on Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg.  Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Williamsburg.  Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home.  A memorial fund has been established for Powerhouse Ministries, Meadow Lark or Iowa County Food Bank.  Messages and tributes may be directed to www.powellfuneralhomes.com
