Williamsburg- Sybil Irene Dustin, was born on January 8, 1916 in Sayebec, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of William and Eva Scott Craigie. She was formerly a 50 year member of the Maxson Post American Legion Auxillary. Sybil was an Avon representative for many years and a care-giver for the elderly. Sybil was always a nature-lover and used to say she spent the vast majority of her life outdoors. She enjoyed swimming in the lakes and rivers and hiked in the woods much of her life looking for wildflowers and anything nature offered. She was also an avid flower gardener and enjoyed sharing her flowers with others. When she was indoors she enjoyed reading, especially the encyclopedia and the Bible, writing letters to friends, collecting quotes and Bible verses, and knitting. Sybil was a life-long supporter of many charities. Some of her favorite charities were for blind children, Native Americans, Habitat for Humanity, Boys Town, Food for the Poor, medical research, and a host of others. One of her last requests was that we send a box of scarves she knitted to the St. Labre Indian School in Montana. She was a woman of deep faith. She is survived by 3 daughters - Claire Bruxvoort of Williamsburg, Lucille Makrin and husband Frank of Cambridge, NY and Anna Dustin of Santa Fe, NM; a son Cedric Edward Dustin of Seattle WA; 4 grandchildren: Keith Makrin and wife Lynn, Kristin Makrin, Emily Bruxvoort and husband Clay Steele, and Alicia Briscoe; 1 great-granchild, Katherine Makrin; 2 sisters: Bette Bigger of Quebec, Canada and Doris Craigie of Montreal, Quebec Canada. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers William and Russell Craigie; and a sister Edna Craigie.
