Susanna Gingerich was born October 3, 1921 in Kalona, Iowa the daughter of John D. and Amanda (Miller) Gingerich. She passed away July 12, 2011 at her home in Kalona at the age of 89 years, 9 months and 9 days from respiratory complications. She accepted Christ in her youth and was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church and remained a faithful member until her death. Susanna is survived by her half brother David Gingerich and wife Vera of Kalona, six nephews and four nieces : Daniel Gingerich (Miriam) of Lockridge; Galen Gingerich (Beth) of Seward, NE; Leslie Gingerich (Marlene) of Congress, AZ; Wesley Gingerich (Karen) of Kokomo, IN; John Dale Gingerich (Wanda) of Kalona; Fred Gingerich (Lillian) of Irvington, KY; Ollie Gingerich, Miriam Gingerich, Nina Miller (Vernon), Susanna Gingerich all of Kalona; and thirty great nieces and nephews. Susanna was preceded in death by her parents John and Amanda; her step mother Anna; a brother Lloyd Vernon; and a great niece Krystle. Susanna's family wishes to thank everyone for the love, prayers, food and many acts of kindness expressed to them at this time of loss. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2011 at the John Dale Gingerich residence at 2179 Johnson Washington Rd SW in rural Kalona. Bishop Vernon Yoder will officiate. Burial will be in the South Gingerich Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the John Dale Gingerich residence and will continue all day on Thursday. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
