Susan Hochstedler was born September 19, 1916 in Kokomo, Indiana the daughter of Uriah and Elizabeth (Briskey) Mast. On March 21, 1937 she was united in marriage to Ezra Hochstedler in Defiance County, Ohio. They made their home in rural Kalona, where she as a homemaker. She was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church, and she cleaned the church for over 25 years. Susan died peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona at the age of 90 years. Susan is survived by 9 children - Robert Hochstedler of St. Paul, MN., Carol Glick (Harley)of Danvers, IL., Donald G. Hochstedler (Ellen)of Kalona, Wayne A. (Nancy) Hochstedler of Barstow, CA., Laura Hochstedler of Kalona, James M. Hochstedler (Pam) of Kalona, Marlene Schrock (Dale) of Iowa City, Loren K. Hochstedler (Elvesta) of Kalona, Twila Swartzentruber (Don) of Kalona; 25 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and a brother Walter Mast (Edith) of Bryan, OH.; a sister-in-law Rosie Miller (Ed) of Harlan, IN., and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in January of 1979; a grandson Keith Glick; 5 sisters - Cora Yoder, Barbara Yoder, Lena Byler, Fannie Gingerich, Leah Beachy; and 2 brothers - Eli and Amos Mast.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to The Fairview Mennonite Church, Crooked Creek Christian Camp and Pleasantview Home.
