Steven R. Thompson, age 72, of Brooklyn, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family. A graveside, memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom, with Rev. Calvin Turner officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Inurnment will be at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom, with military honors conducted by the Malcom American Legion Post #733 and the U.S. Air Force Color Guard. Memorials may be contributed to the family.
Steven is survived by his four children, Greg (Angie) Thompson, of Malcom, Shelly Thompson, of Grinnell, Angie (Alex) Hernandez, of Maryland and Carrie Thompson (Brenton Sielaff), of Brooklyn; five brothers, Calvin (Diana) Turner, Roger (Cindy) Thompson, Doug (Patti) Thompson, Jerry Thompson (Judy) and Andy (Lorri) Thompson; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a huge extended family and special friends, Connie Coleman and the Malcom Manatt Family. He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Plikuhn, his parents, Harold and Ramona Thompson and two brothers Frank and Dennis Thompson.
Steven Robert, born on December 2, 1950 in Grinnell, is the son of the late Harold and Ramona (Meldrem) Thompson. He graduated from Milan C2 School, in Milan, MO. Steven was united in marriage to Bonnie Plikuhn on December 2, 1969, in South Gate, CA.
He enlisted in the U.S Air Force and retired after 19 years, as a Staff Sergeant. Steven was a family man. Family was his priority and always came first. He enjoyed fishing, camping and trips to the casino. Steven loved to bargain. He especially loved spending time with family and friends and playing with the boys at the family poker games.
