Steven R. Elliott, 54, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, IA.According to his wishes, Steve's body has been cremated. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, December 4, 2015, at Sheridan Cemetery, rural Mt. Union, IA. A memorial has been established in Steve's name. On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com. Born August 28, 1961, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Steven Ray was the son of Earl Vergil and Elsie Ruth Septer Elliott. Steve lived his formative years in Mt. Union and was educated in the Winfield-Mt. Union School District. As a young adult, he moved to Winfield, IA, and later moved to Mt. Pleasant, IA. Over the years Steve worked in the construction field, was a cook at Buff's Restaurant in Mt. Pleasant, and for several years was employed at Bluebird Midwest. Because of his love of the outdoors, his favorite occupation was working as a farmhand on local farms including the Venghaus chicken farm. A nature enthusiast, Steve would spend as much time outdoors as possible. He loved to trap, fish, and observe the wildlife. In recent years he liked listening to Christian radio and sharing his faith with others. Steve is survived by a daughter, Stacey R. Elliott of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a brother, Timothy Elliott of Tulsa, OK; and two sisters, Rebecca (Roger) Bartenhagen of Muscatine, IA, and Connie (Sam) Nelson of Montezuma, IA; along with nieces and nephews.Along with his parents, Steve was preceded in death by brother, George Elliott, who died at childbirth.
