Sterling Rediger was born December 29, 1907 in Milford, Nebraska the son of Jacob and Lavina (Hershberger) Rediger. On December 5, 1937 he was united in marriage to Zola Klopfenstein in Spartansburg, Pennsylvania. They lived in Pennsylvania and Nebraska before moving to Iowa in 1956. Sterling was a farmer and worked at the Yoder Feeds Research Farm until his retirement. He was a member of the Kalona Christian Fellowship Church. He enjoyed horses, gardening, and flowers. He was a neighbor and friend to many. Sterling died with his family at his side on Monday, August 9, 2004 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona at the age of 96 years. Sterling is survived by his wife Zola of Kalona; 7 children - Marilyn Hamrick and husband Dale of Kalona; Mabel Schumann and husband Dwight of Kalona; Larry Rediger and wife Wanda of Wellman; Bernard Rediger and wife Paula of Iowa City; Virginia Miller and husband Byron of Scotts Bluff, Nebraska; Jerry Rediger and wife Leann of Kalona; Randy Rediger of Iowa City; 20 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and a brother - Ferman Rediger of Dorchester, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter - Amanda Miller; 3 sisters - Ollie Roth, Verda Roth, Mabel Krabill; and 3 brothers - Stanley Rediger, Merle Rediger, and Dallas Rediger.
A Memorial Fund has been established for the Kalona Christian Fellowship Church.
