Marengo- Stanley Sherman Polton was born November 29, 1936, on a farm northeast of Kinross, the son of Sherman Bryan & Eunice Mae (Ballard) Polton. He grew up in the Kinross area and graduated from Kinross High School in 1954. In 1955, he went to work for Amana Refrigeration, retiring in 1998. On July 16, 1967, Stanley married Dorothy "Dottie" Carter, at the Kinross Christian Church. He enjoyed antiques, fishing, hunting and woodworking. Stanley died on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at his home in Marengo, after a battle with cancer, at the age of 76 years. He is survived by his wife Dottie of Marengo; two sons: Bryan and wife Kelly of South English and Vance of Washington; six grandchildren: Amanda, Ayla, John, Jessica, Matt and Mickayla; three great grandchildren: Kiara, Mya and Xavier; a brother-in-law Bud Schwab of Newton; and his special sweetie GiGi. He was preceded by his parents; and two sisters: Jean Schwab and Dorothy Foubert. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at the Powell Funeral Home, North English. Pastor James Bringman will officiate. Burial will be in the Brethren Cemetery, South English. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. on Monday, at the Powell Funeral Home, North English.
