Stanley Lee Lown

South English- Stanley Lee Lown was born June 7, 1927 near North English, Iowa, the son of Thomas & Ila (Johnston) Lown. He graduated from North English High School and served in the US Marines during WWII. On February 12, 1949, Stanley was united in marriage to Bevaline Stewart at the Christian Church parsonage in North English. He was a life long resident and farmer in the North English area. Stanley was a member of the Christian Church and served on the Union Country School Board, Keokuk Co. Farm Bureau Board, Keokuk Co. Pork and Beef Boards, Ross T. Hadley American Legion Post #488 and North English Scout, Creamery, School and Telephone Boards. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing and was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan.

Stanley died on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at the English Valley Care Center, North English at the age of 88 years.

He is survived by his wife Bev of South English; three sons: Randy of Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, Ron (Kendra) of Walford, Iowa and Rick of Iowa City, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: Brian (Natasha) Lown, Jaime (Jerome) Young, Ryann (Alex) Lehnertz, Ashley (Mike) Cauliflower, Bradley (Courtney) Lown and Breanne Lown; 9 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Cathi Lown of Roseville, California; brother: Larry (Margaret) Lown of North English; nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents; son Roger; brother: Melvin and sister: Frances.

Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Powell Funeral Home, North English. Pastor Luke Caster will officiate. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Powell Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established for the North English Christian Church or North English QRS.
