Williamsburg- Sondra Kaye Folkmann was born October 21, 1945, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Curtis & Nonean (Umphress) Johnson. She was a 1963 graduate of Ottumwa High School. She was united in marriage to Steve Sprouse in July of 1966. To this union they had two children, Crystal and Jason. They later divorced. On November 20, 1986, Sondra was united in marriage to Roger Folkmann in Las Vegas, Nevada. She worked a number of retail jobs in the Williamsburg area, the last being 10 years at Star Drug in the craft department. Sondra was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, gardening, watching NASCAR and spending time with her grandchildren. Sondra died on Monday, November 21, 2011, at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, at the age of 66 years. She is survived by her husband Roger Folkmann of Williamsburg; a daughter: Crystal (Jim Stelmasek) Sprouse of Ingleside, IL; a son: Jason Sprouse of Conroy; 2 stepchildren: Rod (Angela) Folkmann of Williamsburg and Rochelle (Tom) Ashcraft of Long Beach, CA; 2 grandchildren: Angela Gingrich and Kimberly Kouba; 4 step grandchildren: Miranda Sanchez, Skylar Starkweather, Ava Ashcraft and Emma Ashcraft; a step great grandson: Jack Starkweather; a brother: Ronnie Johnson of Agency, IA; and an uncle: Donald (Ilene) Umphress of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by her parents. Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. Pastor Richard Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg.
