CONROY- Shirley Louise Lane, was born January 8, 1937 ,at home, near Homestead, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred Henry and Viola Meta Louise (Timm) Schwarting. She attended rural school. On June 21, 1964, she was united in marriage to Kevin Lee Lane at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. She worked at the Southside Café, Little Chicago then Middle America Motel for a number of years before retiring. She has lived in the Conroy community most of her life. Shirley became a resident of the English Valley Care Center in July of 2005. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a past member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed her grandchildren and playing Bingo. Shirley died on Monday, July 14, 2008, at the English Valley Care Center after a sudden illness, at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 6 days. She is survived by her 2 daughters- Diane (Kevin) Barrett of Hainesville, IL and Debra (Jeff) Baker of Conroy; 2 grandchildren- Catlyn and Andrew Barrett; and a brother Wayne Schwarting of North English. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Kevin. Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 am on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Rev. Carl Cloeter will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, in Williamsburg. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. A general memorial fund has been established.
