Williamsburg, formerly of Conroy- Shirley June Schwarting, was born June 23, 1926, in Conroy, Iowa the daughter of John R. & Florence Olson Leahy. She graduated from Hilton Consolidated High School, Conroy. On April 30, 1945, she was united in marriage to Harold Adolph Martin Schwarting at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. They were married for 61 years. Shirley grew up in Conroy and moved to a farm near Williamsburg after she and Harold were married. In 1970, they moved back to Conroy. She was a supervisor at REA in Conroy, in charge of the Severe and Profound for over 33 years. She retired at age 77. Shirley was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy, where she served on the Altar Committee for many years. She volunteered, called bingo and enjoyed everyone at Highland Ridge. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her friends and Iowa Hawkeye sports. Shirley died on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, following a sudden illness at the age of 85 years. She is survived by her children: Gary (Janice) Schwarting of Ankeny, Iowa, Donna (Bruce) Lundeen of East Moline, Illinois and Rick (Barbara) Schwarting of Atkins, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: Ashley (Joel) Ott of Ankeny, Tamra (Roger) Swartzendruber of St. Louis, Jason (Erin) VonAhsen of West Branch, Nichole Schwarting of Atkins, Chad Schwarting of Cedar Rapids and Bryce Schwarting of Atkins; 4 great grandchildren: Kyle Ott, Eric Ott, T.J. Von Ahsen and Ashlee Von Ahsen; a sister: Faye Roberts and a brother Bob Leahy both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2006; 2 brothers Carroll Leahy and Dean Leahy; 4 sisters: Cleone Sandersfeld, Marjorie Zuber, Ethel Roberts and Vera Brockshus. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 5, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy. Rev. Gary Sears will officiate. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Conroy. Visitation will be held from 3-6 on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg.
