WELLMAN - Shirley Jean Debler was born August 11, 1941, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Wilbur and Velda (Moffit) Schauf. She graduated from Wellman High School in 1960. Shirley was married to Walt Bailey and he died in an automobile accident, she later married Donald C. Debler and they later divorced. Shirley worked at Kinneer Home Furnishing, the Kalonial Townhouse, and was the housekeeping supervisor at Pleasantview Home. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her family, reading, shopping and watching Dancing With The Stars. Shirley passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City from complications of a stroke at the age of 76 years.
Shirley is survived by a son Tad (Katy) Debler of Wellman, a daughter Toni Debler of North Liberty, 5 grandchildren; Elliott, Jacob, Samantha, Caleb and Keaton Debler, her mother Velda Schauf of Wellman; 3 sisters Myrna (Ray) Bozarth of West Liberty, Mary (Jerry) Van Dyke of Lousiville, KY, Sandra (Rodney) Paul of West Liberty, a brother Dennis Schauf of Wellman, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, her husbands Walt and Don; 4 brothers Larry, William "Bill", Gary "Ed", Kenneth Schauf; and a sister Loretta "Lori" Schauf.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM on Sunday, February 18, 2018, at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. There will be no formal service. A general memorial fund has been established.
