Shirley Henderson

Shirley A. Henderson, 75, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at the Banner Gardens Hospice House in Mesa, AZ. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel. A funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jeff McPheron officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Henry County Animal Rescue Organization. On line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com . Born February 16, 1935, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Shirley Ann was the daughter of Gino and Nellie Roppel Sodini. She lived in Mount Pleasant until 1947 when the family relocated to California. She attended Iowa Wesleyan College for two years and graduated from the University of Southern California. In 1966, she married Robert Henderson. Shirley worked in the brokerage industry. Along with her mother, she returned to southeast Iowa in 1975 and became director of the Industrial Training Center in Mt. Pleasant. She held this position until her recent retirement and relocation to Scottsdale, Arizona. Shirley was a long time member of Pi Beta Phi and a former member of Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club. Survivors include numerous cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Robert, and a sister Ramona.
