Shirley Frances Childers

Shirley F. Childers, age 79, of East Amana, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 1, 2021. Graveside service: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday May 4, 2021 at the East Amana Cemetery, East Amana with Elder Tony Berger officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Kloster Funeral Home in care of Shirley, 298 W. Washington St., Marengo, Iowa 52301. Masks and social distancing will be required at the service.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 62 years, David, three children, Lonny Childers, Lori Ackermann, and Lisa Schneekloth; nine grandchildren, Sherrie, Mathew, Joseph, Elizabeth, Kristin, Justin, John, Kali, and Jake; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son-in-law, P.J. Schneekloth.

Shirley Frances Bahndorf was born February 28, 1942 in East Amana, the daughter of Walter and Agnes Unkel Bahndorf. She attended the Amana Schools. Shirley spent her working career as a food service worker, working for the Amana Schools and local restaurants. She was united in marriage to David Childers on August 2, 1958, the couple made their home in East Amana for many years. Shirley’s passion was her family, taking care of her children and grandchildren.
