Shirley B. DeMonbrun, age 85, of Marengo, died Thursday, March 16, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 20, 2017, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Pastor Dan Andrews officiating. Visitation: Noon until service time, Monday, March 20, 2017, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Betty Rutherford, 680 Silk Oak Lane, Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
Shirley is survived by her children Susan (Norland) Hofer of Huron, South Dakota, Chris (Larry) Fullmer of Marengo, Iowa, Frank deMonbrun of Aurora, Colorado, Betty (Bob) Rutherford of Crystal Lake, Illinois and Edith (Victor) Quan of Belize City, Central America; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother William Marshall of Carthage, Illinois, and three sisters Esther Jingst of Sebring, Florida, Irene Houston, of Burlington, Iowa and Frances (Dale) Best of Woodland, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother Charles.
Shirley Marshall Felgar was born December 12, 1931, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Helen VanAusdall Felgar. She accepted the Lord on August 26, 1943. She graduated from Hamilton High School, Hamilton, Illinois, in 1949 and later at Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, Missouri. Shirley was united in marriage to Donald DeMonbrun on August 11, 1951, in Elviston, Illiinois. She taught many teacher training classes, bible studies and she held Good News Clubs in her home. Shirley was a wonderful wife and mother and especially loved to crotchet.
